I thought about how insensitive my behavior was and even though I don’t think that I was being antiSemitic on purpose, I can see how dumb I was being. I want to be a human being; I want to learn about things and know about things, and not to be protected as something too precious for life, cooped up in one narrow little corner. We fail altogether to understand your motives in doing what you are doing, or, indeed, how you are managing to do it, or what you are managing on.
